Own EMC measuring cabin for KAG

At the beginning of the year, Kählig Antriebstechnik has installed an EMC GTEM cell with which measurements during development interference radiations of the motors can be carried out.

Through the use of more and more electronic components in DC motors and applications of the end customers the reduction of interference radiations of drives is becoming increasingly important.

For that reason Kählig Antriebstechnik GmbH has installed an EMC GTEM cell (GTEM = Gigahertz Transversal Electro Magnetic Wave) at the beginning of the year. EMC describes the electromagnetic compatibility of electrotechnical devices.

With the measuring cabin, DC motors of KAG can be observed with regard to the emitted interference radiations during development. Already during the development of drives, suitable constructive measures can be taken to minimise and optimise the interference radiations. Hereby KAG customers benefit from an optimal consultation and support in the area of emitted interference radiations and beginning suppressions.

In the EMC measuring cabin, motors can thereby be observed up to a total length of 250 mm and interference radiations can be measured from 30 to 1,000 MHz. Thereby the interference radiation of the motors is absorbed in 3 orthogonal axes and is converted through a correlated algorithm to a field measurement at a 10 metre distance.
